February 2012's Medicine

Tyler originally started on 10mg of Abilify. He stayed on that for a few months, and was complaining of restless leg syndrome, so he was switched to Seroquel XR 20mg. He did much better on that, but he stopped taking it after a few months. He complained that it didn't help him and made him too tired.

As of February 2012, by the orders of White Pine Inpatient clinic, Tyler is taking 10mg of Lexapro once daily for depression. He is taking 40mg of Geodon twice daily for mood stabilization. These replaced the Seroquel. He is taking Intuniv, 2mg once daily for what he calls his ADHD. He always has to be up and moving around. If he has to sit in a chair, his legs are bouncing a mile a minute and his hands shake slightly. He is also prescribed Cogentin, .5 mg twice daily to help with any muscle contracture the Geodon causes.

We don't know what's wrong with him, but let’s medicate. When he has side effects, let’s medicate those, and when he has bad effects from the counter-effect drugs, let’s give him even more until my son is so fucked up he can't function. At least he won't be a danger to himself or others.

As of this week, Feb 14, 2012, Ty decided to take only Geodon in the morning. The Intuniv makes him extremely tired. When he takes it, he will be out 2 hours later. So he's been taking Lexapro, Geodon & Intuniv at night around 8-8:30, and it's been working out well.

Ty's medicine is making him super tired. It's the Geodon. He takes it, and 2 hours later he can't keep his eyes open. He said 3 people in school noticed that his speech wasn't as fast as usual and asked him if he was okay. He says that he just can't get the thoughts out as fast as he normally does. He did stay up late last night, so maybe that has a little bit to do with it.

He also took Concerta for 2 days before he went to White Pine. Ty was admitted to White Pine on February 3rd around 2:30 am, and got out Feb. 12, 2012.

Dr. Palamara, a psychiatrist at Pine Rest, is easing Tyler off the Geodon & putting him on 1mg Risperidone twice daily starting Feb. 24th. He is to stay on Cogentin .5 mg until we know he's not having muscle tics, then ease off that. He is staying on Intuniv and Lexapro for now. She says that if he has bi-polar, that Lexapro is very bad for him to be on since anti-depressants will cause him to be manic all the time. She says Geodon is causing his diarrhea and his restlessness, and this is not acceptable. She wants to change 1 med at a time to make sure where his symptoms are coming from.
